Excellent Properties Of Basalt Fibers

Basalt fiber is made of basalt ore melted and drawn, and the reserves of basalt ore on the earth and the moon are quite objective, and the cost of raw materials is relatively low.
(2) Environmentally-friendly materials
Basalt ore is a natural material, and no boron or other alkali metal oxides are discharged during its production process, so there is no precipitation of harmful substances in its smoke and dust, and it will not cause pollution to the atmosphere. Moreover, the product has a long service life, so it is a new type of green active environmental protection material with low cost, high performance and ideal cleanliness.
(3) Excellent high temperature resistance and thermal shock stability
The use temperature of basalt fiber is generally -260-880 °C, which is much higher than that of aramid fiber, alkali-free E glass fiber, asbestos, rock wool, stainless steel, close to silicon fiber, aluminum silicate fiber and ceramic fiber, and the thermal shock stability is good, which remains unchanged at 500 °C temperature, and the original weight is only lost by 3% at 900 °C.
(4) Good chemical stability
The acid resistance and alkali resistance of basalt fibers are better than that of aluminosilicate fibers. Its durability, weather resistance, ultraviolet radiation resistance, water resistance, oxidation resistance and other properties are comparable to natural basalt heads.
(5) High elastic modulus and tensile strength
The elastic modulus of basalt fiber is 9100 kg/mm?--11000 kg/mm?, which is higher than that of alkali-free glass fiber, asbestos, aramid fiber, polypropylene fiber and silicon fiber. The tensile strength of basalt fiber is 3800-4800 MPa, which is higher than that of large tow carbon fiber, aramid, PBI fiber, steel fiber, boron fiber and alumina fiber, and is comparable to S glass fiber.

(6) The sound absorption coefficient is high
The sound absorption coefficient of basalt fiber is 0.9-0.99, which is higher than that of alkali-free glass fiber and silicon fiber. Excellent wave transmittance and certain wave absorption, excellent sound absorption and sound insulation performance, good stealth performance, can be made into stealth materials.
(7) Good electrical insulation and dielectric properties
The specific volume resistance of basalt fiber is 1×10^12Ω·m, which is much higher than that of alkali-free glass fiber and silicon fiber, and the volume resistivity is one order of magnitude higher than that of electrically insulating E glass fiber, and the dielectric loss tangent is 50% higher.
(8) Natural silicate compatibility
It has good dispersion with cement and concrete, strong adhesion, consistent thermal expansion and contraction coefficient, and good weather resistance.
(9) Low moisture absorption
The moisture absorption of basalt fibers is less than 0.1%, which is lower than that of aramid fibers, rock wool and asbestos.
