What should I pay attention to when storing Basalt Fiber Insulated Zone

May 10, 2025|

When storing Basalt Fiber Insulated Zone, environmental conditions are critical. It should be placed in a dry and ventilated warehouse, not near water sources or places with stagnant water. A humid environment will cause the insulation tape to absorb moisture. Although it has a certain degree of moisture resistance, if it is exposed to moisture for a long time, the surface may become moldy and the insulation performance of the internal fiber will gradually decrease. Especially in rainy areas in the south, it is best to install a dehumidifier in the warehouse, or put a wooden pallet under the shelf, keeping a distance of more than 10 cm from the ground to reduce the impact of moisture.
When storing, pay attention to avoid direct sunlight and high temperature. Although basalt fiber can withstand a high temperature of 600℃, it is not necessary to store it in a high temperature environment. If it is exposed to the sun for a long time, the protective coating on the outer layer may accelerate aging, discoloration, and brittleness. It is best to install blackout curtains on the windows of the warehouse, or place the insulation tape in a light-proof shelf area.
There are also requirements for packaging and stacking. Unopened insulation tapes should be kept in their original packaging, and cartons and plastic bags can play a role in dust and moisture prevention. If the package is damaged, rewrap it with a sealed bag or plastic film in time to prevent dust from entering the fiber gaps. Don't stack too high. Generally, it is safer to stack within 5 layers. Too heavy will crush the packaging below, causing the insulation tape roll to deform and difficult to unfold when used.
Finally, check the storage situation regularly. Check once every quarter to see if the package is damaged, whether there are signs of moisture on the surface, and whether it has been bitten by insects and rats. If problems are found, deal with them in time. For example, if the insulation tape is slightly damp, put it in a ventilated place to dry before use; if there are obvious mildew spots or fiber breaks, do not use it again to avoid affecting the insulation effect. Proper storage can keep the Basalt Fiber Insulated Zone in good performance and make it safer and more reliable when used.
